This is a circa 1930s New Zealand Railways (NZR) oil lamp. The lamp was used by the locomotive engine man to provide light when oiling and checking his train at night. The light output was limited and would have fluctuated. The lamp is approximately 9.3cm in diameter (exclduing the handle and spout and 7cm tall.
